If you love chicken and are somewhat of a sweet tooth, then this Honey Glazed Chicken recipe is just for you. It’s very easy to prepare, tastes absolutely yummy and will be a hit if you need to entertain guests or on just a cosy hang out.
I posted this photo of Honey Glazed Chicken Wings on Instagram a couple of months ago…It sure got a lot of buzz, I shared a recipe as well and got some positive feedbacks, so, here I am, sharing the recipe in pictures…
8 Big size chicken wings or 3-4 chicken thighs
2 Tablespoons Cooking Oil (I used sesame oil and sunflower oil)
1/2 Cup Honey
4 Tablespoons Soy Sauce
2 Cloves Garlic Minced
1/2 Onion Sliced
1/2 Red, Yellow and Green Bell Peppers, Sliced
1 Knorr Cube
These are the ingredients I’ll be using… I ended up not using the maple syrup so please, disregard…
If you’re using chicken thighs, cut each into two, wash thoroughly and set aside.
In a large bowl, combine 4 tablespoons honey, 1 teaspoon lemon juice, 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper, 3 tablespoons soy sauce, minced garlic and 1 tablespoon oil, 1/4 tablespoon cumin and 1 Knorr Chicken cube, mix thoroughly….
Dip the chicken into the mixture and rub all over…
Now, let it sit in the fridge for 2 to 6 hours or overnight for maximum flavour, if your pushed for time, you can just do 2 hours.
I always marinate chicken for 24 hours, yeah, I’m a sucker for intense flavour.
Remember to turn the chicken around in the marinade from time to time, this is so the marinade can properly penetrate into the chicken. You could also make incisions on the chicken with a knife for easier marinade penetration.
After its marinated to your satisfaction, take it out of the fridge and set aside…
Now, preheat your oven to 190 degrees.
If the chicken was marinated overnight or longer, discard the marinade and prepare a fresh one…
In a small bowl, mix 4 tablespoons honey, 1 tablespoon cooking oil, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 1/2 tablespoon cayenne pepper, 1/4 tablespoon cumin, 1 teaspoon garlic powder and 1 knorr cube…
Rub this on the chicken pieces again. If the chicken was marinated for more than 12 hours, you definitely need to do this. Now, place the chicken on a baking tray.
If the chicken was only marinated for 2-6 hours, just transfer the chicken into a roasting dish add another 2 tablespoons of honey to the marinade and drizzle all over the chicken, , you don’t need to make a fresh marinade.
Add the sliced onions and pepper and arrange on the chicken….
Squirt some oil on the chicken…
Now, toss the chicken in the oven and roast for 15 mins to 20 minutes or until slightly browned…
After 10-15 minutes, turn the chicken over for even heat distribution and leave to roast for 5 minutes…
Add 2 tablespoons of honey into a small bowl, mix with one teaspoon of cayenne pepper….
Glaze the chicken with the mixture (you can take the chicken out of the marinade and transfer onto a roasting rack at this time, this is so you don’t end up with too much moisture, discard the marinade) and toss back into the oven to cook till fully done, this should take another 10 minutes….
