Chicken Stir-Fry! It’s no secret that I love, love Stir fry recipes. I mean, what’s not to love? They’re cheap, tasty and very easy to prepare. For this recipe, the main ingredients are Hoisin Sauce (this can be replaced with Oyster Sauce), White or Rice Vinegar, Soy sauce and Sesame Oil.

You may also use any other protein you prefer instead of Chicken. I’ve got a recipe for Chicken and mushroom stir fry on the blog, click HERE to view if you’re interested.

Chicken stir fry

300g Boneless Chicken ( I’m using thighs)

3 Tablespoons Sunflower Oil

Yellow, Red and Green Bell Peppers (1 of each)

1 Red Onion

2 Carrots

1 Cup Beansprouts

Handful Mangetout

You can mix and match your vegetables, use pretty much any thing you want.

For The Chicken

1 Tablespoon Garlic Powder

A Teaspoon Black Pepper

Teaspoon Chicken seasoning or 1 Knorr Chicken cube

3 Tablespoons Cornflour or Corn starch

For The Sauce

6 Tablespoons Hoisin Sauce, substitute for Oyster Sauce

4 Tablespoons Soy Sauce

2 inch Ginger root, grated

5 Garlic Cloves (grated)

2 Tablespoons Sesame Oil

3 Tablespoons Rice or White Vinegar

Season the chicken with the Garlic Powder, Black Pepper and also the Chicken seasoning/Knorr Cube. Set aside for at least 30 minutes.

After 30 minutes, rub the Chicken with the Cornflour, making sure they’re well coated all over..
I didn’t have Cornflour, so I skipped this part.

You really should use cornflour, this helps to improve the texture of the chicken.

Then, mix all the ingredients for the sauce and set aside…

Pour the Sunflower oil into a wok or frying pan. Place on medium heat. When the oil is hot, fry the chicken till golden brown, then remove from the pan and set aside…

Leaving the juice from the chicken in the pan, set the pan back on the hob. Turn the heat up to moderately high. Pour in the Chopped onions and sauté for 2 minutes, making sure to stir continuously…

Also add the carrots, saute for a minute…

Then the Chopped Peppers and Mangetout, sauté for a minute…

Now, add the Beansprouts, sauté for a minute…

Then add the sauce mixture, stir and combine, leave to simmer for 2 minutes…

Then add the chicken back into the pan, stir and combine, cook for a minute. Your Chicken Stir-fry is ready…

  1. Hello Sisi, would love to try out this recipe for my daughter’s birthday on sat. Can I easily get the sauce you showed or I can simply substitute with the chicken stock. Great job you’re doing.

  2. Wow! This is amazing ! I used my left-over rotisserie chicken and shredded it. It tastes amazing. Now I can actually use it for tacos . Love you lots

  3. I did it! Just last week I got sick the usual Sunday rice and stew. I needed a change, I craved an Asian dish. I did some research and found out I was following you so I quickly subscribed to your blog and went shopping. Girl it came out great! However, it was kinda dry, I noticed I needed much of it to go round a plate of rice, so next time, I will add some chicken stock or water just to loosen it up and let it flow a lil bit. Thanks you for this recipe sisi❤️️

    • Hi, works up to your lovely feedback. Thanks so much. I’m glad you loved it. As per the dryness, Stir fries are actually dry to be honest but what you can do next time is double the sauce ingredients and you’ll be fine. Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a feedback, it’s greatly appreciated. You’re very welcome… x

  4. I am going to try this recipe out but I can already tell by the enlisted recipe steps that it’s gonna be a knock out. Thanks for sharing
