Assorted Fish Sauce is simply a fried pepper based sauce I love to pair with Boiled or fried yam. This sauce is incredibly tasty yet easy to whip up.
For this recipe, you can use just about any type of fish though firm fishes are better suited. You can also use either Palm oil or Vegetable oil, both options are just as good. Please, do not add Curry or Thyme if you’ll be using Palm oil. These two Seasoning don’t go well with Palm oil in the slightest.
2 Red Bell Peppers (Tatashe)
1/2 Can Chopped Peppers or 4 Tomatoes, Chopped
2-3 Scotch Bonnet Peppers (Atarodo)
2 Cooking Spoons Palm Oil or Vegetable Oil
1 Fresh Fish, Shredded (I’m using Hake)
1 Smoked Catfish, Cleaned and Shredded
2-3 Pieces Stockfish, Cooked and shredded
1/2 Cup fresh or Smoked Prawns
3 Tablespoons Crayfish
3 Bouillon Cubes
Salt to Taste
Chop the Bell Peppers, Scotch Bonnet and I Onion roughly. When that’s done, set aside..
Pour the Palm Oil into a pan and place on medium heat. When it’s hot, add 1/2 chopped Onion and sauté till translucent…
Then add 1/2 of the Crayfish, sauté for a minute. Then add the Chopped Tomatoes, sauté for 5 minutes…
Add the Chopped Peppers, Bouillon Cubes and Salt to Taste, sauté for 12 minutes. Stir every now and then to prevent burning…
Then shred the Smoked fish, Stockfish and add into the sauce, also add the Prawns and the rest of the Crayfish…
Turn the heat down to low and continue to fry for 12-15 minutes. The sauce needs to be well fried to achieve a very flavourful and intense taste…
Your Assorted Fish Sauce is ready. Enjoy with Boiled/Fried Yam or Potatoes, Plantain, Rice, Pasta or even Bread.
